October Auction

Kavanagh Auctions presents a wide-ranging sale of 386 lots spanning centuries, continents and collecting categories. A strong Asian arts section leads the way, with a deep offering of Chinese blue and white porcelain, including several Kangxi-period chargers and plates, alongside famille rose, Yixing teapots and carved hardwoods, plus Japanese Meiji okimono, Satsuma and an exceptional group of Edo-period samurai material, including katanas, a wakizashi, an armour box and a full suit of armour. Lighting collectors will find more than forty lots, from Pairpoint reverse-painted and Handel-style lamps to Murano, Art Deco figural and Space Age designs. The fine art and print selection features Canadian painters such as Francesco Iacurto, Thomas Harold Beament and Harry Britton, a Henri Hébert bronze, Inuit stonecuts, and works on paper by Picasso, Riopelle, Mapplethorpe and Mr. Brainwash. Rounding out the catalogue are European antiques and Georgian and Victorian furniture, Quebec folk art, sterling silver by Georg Jensen and others, art glass by Lalique, Daum and Venini, Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre, African masks, a 1916 Gibson L-1 guitar, and a game-used, signed Patrick Roy goalie stick from the Canadiens’ 1993 Stanley Cup Final.
