Chinese carved celadon and russet jade / hardstone guardian lion group, carved as a recumbent Buddhist lion or foo dog with brocade ball, the beast shown with large rounded head, bulging eyes, incised mane, powerful crouched body, and carved paws, a brocade ball between their front paws. The subject belongs to the Chinese guardian lion / Buddhist lion tradition, associated with protection, authority, and auspicious household symbolism.
