Samuel Rayner Melrose Abbey After the Desecration Watercolor 1875
Description
Samuel Rayner (1806 – 1879) England, finely painted image titled Melrose Abbey After the Desecration in watercolour and gouache, extremely fine detailing and realism, signed and dated 1875 lower right, set in ornate washed gilt frame. Samuel Rayner was admitted to the Society of Painters in Water Colours in 1845 and was known for his architectural paintings, and had a work accepted by the Royal Academy in 1822 when he was 15 years of age.
Dimensions: Image measures 12 inches H x 16 W within matting, frame measures 20 x 24 inches.
