Description

Edo Kanbun era (April 1661 to September 1673) long katana in shirasaya. Fujiwara Kunikane refers to a famous lineage of Japanese swordsmiths from the Sendai domain in Oahu, Rikuzen province, spanning 13 generations from the early Edo period (1603-1700) onward. The blade is 28 inches long, and signed Yamashiro Daizyou Fujiwara Kunikane. It is a very healthy and beautiful blade, with some little rust and blemishes. Habaki is wood. It has also a Kikou Mon, named after the chrysanthemum, a symbol of Imperial Japan, a Mon that represents majesty and tradition. The shirasaya is in good condition. Signed and dated Kanbun era, no papers, comes with a silk bag. Shirasaya measures 38.5 inches L. No stand is included with this lot.
