Japanese Noh No Theater Mask Mikazuki Kaishi Signed
Description
Japanese antique hand carved laquered wood Noh or No theatre mask representing Mikazuki, a warror Kaishi spirit or god, historically used in the Takasago and Funa Benkei plays. Fully painted on gesso with red and gilt highlights and black painted hair and facial hair, the eyeballs set with metal rings. Meiji period 1868 – 1912.
