Description
Antique Tibetan thangka or tangka with handpainted elaborate design showing in the centre the wrathful bodhisattva deity Vijrapani, who represents the power of all the buddhas, the deity is blue in colour with three eyes, he is standing on a lotus styled platform surrounded by flames and clouds, with hand sewn silk border, this thangka has been temple blessed and shows various script on the back along with the handprint of main artist in red ink, 19th century. Painting measures 30 inches L x 18.5 W, border measures 43 x 32 inches approximately. Some tears to border, as shown.
