Antique Tibetan thangka or tangka with hand painted elaborate design showing in the centre the compassionate bodhisattva deity Avalokiteshvara also called Chenrezig, who represents universal boundless compassion and healing, the buddha is white in color and has four arms and is sitting on a lotus throne, surrounded by smaller buddhas and attendant figures in a rocky landscape, with hand sewn silk border, this thangka has been temple blessed and shows various script on the back along with the handprint of main artist in red ink, 19th century. Painting measures 24 inches L x 17 W, border measures 38 x 28 inches.
