Description
Japanese hand carved laquered wood Noh or No theatre mask representing Shoujo or Shojo, the fairy who bestows an jar with endless sake, the fairy is also fond of sake and hence has a joyful expression and is red. For the play Shojo. Fully painted on gesso in a deep crimson red with painted black details and hair. Taisho – Showa period 20th Century. Signed on back.
