Japanese Satsuma-Nishiki-de Porcelain Censer Incense Burner Signed
Description
Japanese Satsuma porcelain censer incense burner, featuring a figural foo dog (lion dog) as a lid pull and has similar mythical beast handles on the sides. The body includes intricate, raised, or moriage decoration, depicting scenic panels, samurai, or brocade patterns with extensive gilding. These types of porcelain items were commonly produced during the Meiji period (1868-1912) in Japan for both domestic use and export. Signed on underside, Gyokuhide ga, with crest of Shimazu.
