A 14K yellow gold Longines chronograph pocket watch with serial number 1’598’169 featuring an open-face design with an original white enamel dial, black Arabic numerals, and blued steel dauphine hands and contains a high-grade manual wind Calibre 19.73N movement and monopusher chronograph integrated into the crown. Accompanied by a 14K watch fob with key and inscribed pocket knife, belonging to John Alexander Douglas McCurdy.

Inscribed on inside, John Alexander Douglas McCurdy from his friend Mr and Mrs Alexander Graham Bell Beinn Breagh Aug 2 1907 on his 21st birthday. Also included in the lot is a photograph of McCurdy at the controls of the Silver Dart, February 23, 1909 by Lt. H.M. Benner.

John Alexander Douglas (J.A.D.) McCurdy is recognized as the Father of Canadian Aviation and a national historic person. His significance to Canadian history centers on his monumental first flight, pioneering aviation advancements, establishment of military training infrastructure, and distinguished post-aviation career. Alongside Alexander Graham Bell and F.W. Casey Baldwin as part of the Aerial Experiment Association, McCurdy made major contributions to early aircraft design.
