Pair of Antique French Polychrome Gilt Painted Wood Figure St. Paul and St. Peter
Description
Pair of French antique hand carved wood figures. One of St. Paul holding a sword in one hand representing the Word of God and a book in his other hands representing his Epistles. The other figure of St. Peter holding a key that symbolize the authority to heaven and a book meant to represent the word of Gospels.
Materials: polychrome paint and gilding.
Origin: France.
Period: 18th century.
