Description
Southeast Asian Burmese or Thai gilt-lacquered bronze figure of Buddha Ayutthaya Style. Made of bronze with layers of black lacquer and traces of gilding standing in samabhanga (a balanced, upright pose) depicted in the Abhaya Mudra (the gesture of reassurance and protection), with both hands raised. Distinguishing marks often include a large ushnisha (protuberance on top of the head) symbolizing spiritual development, elongated earlobes, and flared hemlines on the robes.
Dimensions: 52.5 inches H, 57.5 inches H on stand.
