Antique Art Deco Christian Monstrance, Blessed Mother from the Church Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes of Montreal
Description
Antique Art Deco Christian monstrance, a vessel used in Roman Catholic, Anglican, and Lutheran churches to display the consecrated Eucharistic host.
Composed with Blessed Mother (Virgin Mary) on the stem, with her arms raised to support the central circular vessel.
Luna: The circular glass-faced holder in the center is called a luna or lunette, which securely holds the consecrated host for public viewing.
Symbolism: It is adorned with a cross, radiating sunburst rays, and stars, symbolizing the light of Christ.
Item Type: Ornate liturgical vessel.
Design Details: Features a golden ray sunburst design and is depicted with a figurine of the Blessed Mother on its stem.
Dedication: In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes of Montreal.
Dimensions: 30 inches H x 16 W, case measures 32 inches H x 19 W x 12 deep.
