Description
Soapstone sculpture depicting a kneeling Inuit figure wearing a hooded parka, carved with rounded forms and incised garment detailing. The calm facial expression and compact seated posture reflect the sculptural style associated with Lake Harbour (Kimmirut) artists of the late 1960s–1970s. The underside retains an early Lake Harbour co-operative label identifying the artist as Nowdla.

Crack in stone running through figure, as shown.
Provenance: From the collection of Ene Schoeler who served as Secretary of the Canadian Eskimo Arts Council from 1967 to 1989, during a critical period in the promotion and international recognition of Inuit art; works from her collection reflect close engagement with artists, co-operatives, and dealers active during this formative era.
