Clarence Alphonse Gagnon (1881-1942), a prominent member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (R.C.A.).

Medium: Gouache on paper. This medium was favored by Gagnon for studies because of its rich, opaque colors, which perfectly capture the velvety texture of butterfly wings.

Presentation: ornate gold frame with deep-beveled matting, red atelier workshop stamp. With original Klinkhoff Gallery sticker on verso.
