La Berge, Lac Temiscouata, 1954 Pastel on paper, signed lower right R. R. Picard 1954; titled, dated, and inscribed Pastel Original Authentique, La Berge, Lac Temiscouata, 1954 on the verso. A striking composition depicting a nude female figure leaning gracefully against the exposed roots of a riverside tree, rendered in subtle earthy tones and heightened pastel textures. The scene balances naturalism with stylized, almost Art Deco inflections characteristic of Picard’s figurative works of the 1950s.
