Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Zodiac Figure, Rat, 11 Inches
Description
Chinese blue and white porcelain figural sculpture, modelled as a standing robed zodiac figure, representing the Rat. The figure is depicted upright holding a cylindrical object at the chest, dressed in flowing robes decorated with underglaze cobalt motifs of stylized florals and scrolling patterns. The head is rendered in animal form with upright ears and elongated snout, consistent with zodiac iconography.
The glaze presents a pale celadon-tinged ground with deep cobalt decoration. The underside is unglazed with a central firing aperture and later-applied felt pads.
Height: 11 inches.
Condition consistent with age, including glaze variations and minor surface wear.
