Antique Boulle Mantel Clock Case, Green Ground with Brass Inlay, Gilt Bronze Mounts
Description
Antique Boulle mantel clock case of bombe form, decorated with engraved brass marquetry set against a green-stained ground. The case is richly mounted with gilt bronze ornament, including scrolling feet, corner mounts, and a foliate finial.
The white enamel dial features blue Roman numerals with Arabic five-minute markers. The rear door opens to reveal the space for a movement that is completely missing. Likewise, the hands on the dial and the glass are missing.
The decorative brass inlay contrasts strongly against the deep green background, creating the classic Boulle aesthetic in the Louis XV revival taste.
