Oval portrait miniature depicting a young Renaissance scholar traditionally identified as Angelo Poliziano (1454-1494), the celebrated Italian humanist and poet of the Florentine court. The sitter is shown in three-quarter view wearing a red tunic and matching cap against a dark ground, reflecting the conventions of early Italian Renaissance portraiture.
Executed in the Renaissance revival manner.
Housed in a gilt oval surround within a rectangular black frame with gold-toned mat, enhancing its historical decorative character.
