A refined academic portrait depicting a young girl standing in a white off-shoulder dress with a pale blue sash and matching hair ribbon. The sitter is presented against a loosely brushed green background, with portions of the lower figure and surrounding ground remaining in sketch form, suggesting a studio study.
The delicate modeling of the face, naturalistic rendering of curls, and restrained tonal palette are characteristic of late 19th-century French academic portraiture.
Unsigned. Annotations to the stretcher verso appear to relate to inventory or storage rather than authorship.
Presented in a later, ornate gilt frame.
