Antique Jade Carved Pendant-Brooch in Silver Mount
Description
Antique carved jade pendant brooch of rectangular form, worked in translucent pale green jade with darker inclusions. The front carved in low relief with flowing foliate and scrolling motifs, pierced in places. The reverse mounted in a silver frame fitted with a hinged pin and catch, allowing the piece to be worn either as a brooch or pendant.
The carving emphasizes fluid movement and surface polish rather than deep undercutting, allowing the natural variations in the jade to animate the design.
