Description
18th C. French Sevres Porcelain Tea Service, perhaps a child’s service. The set includes a teapot, a tea cup with a saucer, and a slop bowl with a lid.
It is decorated with scattered polychrome floral sprigs and gilt dentil rims. The tea pot and slop bowl or sugar bowl feature painted blue Sevres marks and incised potters’ marks dating to C. 1762 with four small dots representing the painter’s marking, possibly Jean Charles Sioux. The tea cup and saucer are marked in faded purple with capital P and four diagonal blue dots. Chip to slop bowl handle, small chip to spout of teapot. Slop or sugar bowl measures 4 inches H x 3 W, teapot measures 4 inches H x 5 W, teacup and saucer measure 4.75 inches diameter, 2 inches H x 3 W.
