A compelling pair of printer’s proofs from Tamayo’s mature period, executed in the celebrated Mixografía workshop founded by Luis Remba in Mexico City. The prints display Tamayo’s unmistakable earthy palette and textured surfaces, combining primordial human figures with symbolic elements—fruit, serpent, sun, moon—hallmarks of his late mythological vocabulary.
Marked PP VIII/X, these impressions were reserved for the workshop and are rarely encountered on the market. The deep granular texture and subtle tonal modeling exemplify Tamayo’s technical innovations in relief printing.
Provenance: Private collection, Montréal.
Condition: Good overall; slight paper rippling from mounting; not examined out of frame.
