Victorian Mourning Hairwork Keepsake in Original Oval Case, c. 1850-1880
Description
An oval domed-glass keepsake containing a beautifully braided lock of human hair, preserved in its original leather-covered case lined with pink silk.
Finely worked Victorian hair memorial, featuring a tight braid coiled into a decorative wreath under convex glass. Housed in the period’s original black leather oval case, fitted with silk interior and maker’s label remnants. Typical of mid-late 19th-century mourning or sentimental mementos. Approx. 5 × 4 inches overall. Case shows expected wear; hairwork remains intact and well preserved.
