Antique Chinese Jade-Handled Mirror with Bat Motifs and Carnelian Inlay
Description
Chinese White Metal and Jade Hand Mirror with Carnelian Inlay and Bat Motifs, Early 20th Century A finely detailed Chinese hand mirror, the handle carved from pale celadon jade, the reverse in relief white metal cast with auspicious bats (fu) among scrolling motifs, symbolizing good fortune and longevity. The back is further set with five domed carnelian cabochons, the central larger stone encircled by four smaller ones. The mirror plate shows expected wear and age spotting. Dimensions: 8 in. (20.3 cm) length. Condition: Surface wear and tarnish to the metal, mirror plate with age-related spotting, jade handle intact.
