Lot 163:
Antique Japanese Long Spear Jumonji Yari
Edo period long spear Jumonji yari, a very uncommon, unique and mythic weapon of Feudal Japan. The 7 inches cross-shaped spear blade, also called Magari yari, looks similar to a trident, and is made to slash an opponent’s throat with no mercy. The 88 inches total wooden pole is decorated with raden, mother-of-pearl shellfish in Japanese lacquer. The blade is in near mint condition, and the pole has some loss on the raden.
