Antique Edo period samurai rare small spear called Uchine. This kind of weapon was commonly used in the Sengoku period (1450-1600) also called Warring States period. Originally a battlefield weapon, it later evolved into a self-defence weapon. Samurais could throw this dart at their opponents by hand, or use it as a dagger to stab enemies. The 4.25 inches triangular blade is made much like long spear blades. Behind the head, a short wooden shaft, (24 inches total) thicker than an arrow shaft. Comes with a red-lacquered wooden saya. Condition is very good with some cracks in the saya (scabbard). 28 inches total length, 24 inches without scabbard. Arrow head measures 4.25 inches L. Rack not included.
