Description
Made for British military officers who were posted in Burma and India during the days of British rule. The brass bound teak case is inlaid with brass filigree stringing and retains its original forged iron carrying handles and lock mechanism. The hinged lid opening to reveal an interior housing a small folding shaving mirror above a recessed compartment and flanked on either side by lidded compartments – one with a secret drawer. The interior of the lid centred by a small framed mirror and glass panelled compartment used to hold mementos of loved ones (locks of hair, fabric, flower petals, etc.) fronted by a carved and pierced letter rack. Dimensions: 9.5 inches H x 20.5 W x 13.25 deep.
