THE SIMON CHANG COLLECTION – A Chinese antique blue and yellow satin drawstring purse, both sides with a forbidden stitch pattern surrounded by a tent stitch outline in coloured threads, woven green tassels and string to hang from a girdle belt ring worn over a robe, circa Qing dynasty early 19th century. These purses were used to hold aromatic herbs or scented cotton, some claiming even poison. Purse measures 4 inches W x 2.75 H, 12 inches with tassels and drawstring.
