Description

This sword is a standardized military saber introduced by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1889. Heavily influenced by European cavalry sabers, it featured a Western-style, single-hand hilt combined with a traditional, factory-made, katana-style blade profile.
Produced at the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal until 1936, the swords saw service through the Russo-Japanese War, WWI, and WWII.
This sword features a robust all-steel scabbard and a thumb-depressed locking mechanism that clicks the sword securely in place. Original specimens are highly collectible historical artifacts.
Included is a photo of the owner of the sword, in WW2.
Sword measures 36.75 inches L, blade measures 30.5 inches L, serial number on blade, 108156.
