Hand Painted Lithograph Soldiers Gambling after Salvator Rosa
Description
Soldiers Gambling (also known as Soldiers Playing Dice), originally painted by the Italian Baroque artist Salvator Rosa around 1656-1658 featuring a dramatic scene set at night featuring soldiers engrossed in a game of chance. The composition includes a standing soldier in armour, heavily lit against a dark, moody background, which was a hallmark of Rosa’s rebellious and iconoclastic style.
