Japanese Noh No Theater Mask Tengu Kibabeshimi
Description
Japanese antique hand carved lacquered wood Noh or No theatre mask representing a Tengu, or Kibabeshimi, mountain or forest goblins, sometimes malicious, sometimes benevolent. Lacquered on wood, horsehair eyebrows are missing but remnants in the holes remain. Edo period 1603 – 1868. Unsigned. Please see our other auctions for more Noh and Kyogen masks.
