Description
Marc Aldine (1912-1972) Oil on Canvas depicting a panoramic view of the Grand Canal in Venice. Notable architectural landmarks depicted include the Piazzetta San Marco and the Biblioteca Marciana.Santa Maria della Salute. Signed lower right, with plaque on frame.
Dimensions: Canvas measures 19.5 inches H x 26.5 W, frame measures 26 x 31 inches.
While often attributed to a single artist, Marc Aldine was used by Antoine Bouvard (1870-1956) and his son Noel Georges Bouvard (1912-1975). The family was renowned for romantic, light-filled Venetian vistas, which blend academic precision with an impressionistic sense of light and atmosphere.
