Yuan-Ming Chinese Earthenware High-Relief Filial-Piety Wall Fragment
Description
Rare Chinese Yuan–Ming style painted earthenware high-relief wall fragment depicting a filial-piety scene from the Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars. The modeled figures are presented in deep relief with surviving pigment and an unfinished reverse, consistent with an architectural or tomb-wall decorative context. Comparable subject matter appears in northern Chinese Song-Jin-Yuan carved-brick tomb interiors, where filial exempla were used as moralized decorative programs within tomb chambers.
Dimensions: 10 inches H x 7 W without base
