Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada (also known as Toyokuni III). 


Artist: Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865). 
Title/Series: This plate is part of the series Sono Sugata Yukari No Utsushi-e (often translated as Faithful Images of the Radiant Prince Genji or Magic Lantern Slides of That Romantic Purple Figure). 
Subject: The print illustrates a scene from Chapter 6 of the classic Japanese novel The Tale of Genji by Lady Murasaki Shikibu.
Format: Oban yokoe (horizontal) woodcut print.
Dimensions: Unframed, loose sheet measures 9.5 inches H x 13.5 W.
Condition: Fading, foxing and soiling, some holes to margin, fragile state.
