Antique Italian Istoriato Majolica Tin-Glazed Plate with Mythological Scenes, in the Manner of Giovanni Maria of Urbania.

Featuring highly decorative mythological scenes, tin-glazed earthenware in the Renaissance istoriato (narrative) style. With ornate borders, grotesques, and vivid, earthy colors. The central roundel shows a female figure surrounded by putti. The wide rim is decorated with a symmetrical "grotesque" design featuring winged torsos, grotesque masks supporting baskets of fruit, and stylized dragons or seahorses. Iridescent finish.

Impressed mark to reverse (illegible).

Measuring 11 inches diameter.
