Ohara Shoson (1877-1945) Japanese Woodblock Print of Goldfish, Shin-Hanga
Description
A Japanese polychrome woodblock print depicting two goldfish swimming among aquatic plants, signed Shoson with red seal.
The composition demonstrates the refined naturalism and soft tonal gradation characteristic of the Shin-hanga movement of the early to mid-20th century. The delicate rendering of scales, fins, and underwater vegetation reflects Shōson’s celebrated kacho-ga (bird-and-flower) style adapted to aquatic subject matter.
Printed in traditional woodblock technique with subtle bokashi shading.
