Andrew Valik Inuit Soapstone Hunter with Bear and Sled Signed Sculpture, 5 Inches
Description
Carved black soapstone figure depicting an Inuit hunter in traditional parka seated above a bear, holding a line attached to a miniature sled. The figure is executed in a compact, rounded form with incised facial detailing and textured mitts. The accompanying sled is constructed of wood with hide lashings and remains attached by string to the hunter’s hands.
The reverse of the hood is incised in Roman letters “ANDREW VALIK.” The stone displays natural speckling and light surface wear consistent with handling.
