Johnny Karvik (Cape Dorset) Soapstone Owl Sculpture with Inlaid Eyes, 6.25 Inches
Description
Carved green-grey soapstone owl depicting the bird in a compact, forward-facing pose with exaggerated circular inlaid eyes and simplified incised wing detailing. The sculpture is mounted on a separate fitted stone base secured by a wooden peg. The underside of the owl is incised “KARVIK”, identifying the artist as Johnny Karvik of Cape Dorset (Kinngait).
The stone displays natural mottled grey-green tonal variation with visible hand-finishing marks.
