Description
A French devotional silk embroidery depicting Louis IX of France (Saint Louis) kneeling in prayer before an open book, with crown and sceptre set aside. Executed in silk thread on a silk ground, the royal mantle is embellished with gold fleur-de-lys and ermine beneath a draped Neoclassical curtain. Presented in a silver-gilt Directoire style frame.
