Description
An antique Russian icon depicting Christ Pantocrator (Christ the Almighty), painted in tempera and gold leaf on a wood panel with kovcheg (central recessed field). Christ is shown holding the open Gospel and blessing with His right hand, flanked by two standing saints. Old Church Slavonic inscriptions identify Christ as Gospod VseDerzhitel (Lord Almighty). The composition follows traditional Novgorod and Moscow iconographic models.
