Description
Imperial Russian triptych travel icon housed in a silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel case. The central painted panel depicts the Virgin and Child, flanked by figures of saints. Inscribed “V.D. Konshin,” dated 1913 and engraved with a blessing from a grandfather; the inscription is believed to refer to Vladimir Dmitrievich Konshin. The painted panels bear an inverted N AA” hallmark, possibly that of Ivan Alexeyevich Alexeyev. Measures approximately 78 mm [3.07 in.] wide when closed, 107 mm [4.21 in.] high excluding the bail and 151 mm [5.94 in.] wide when open. Weight: 329.53 g. Losses to the painted icons and very minor enamel loss.
