Japanese Noh No Theater Mask Okina Nikushiji-jo Signed
Description
Japanese antique hand carved lacquered wood Noh or No theatre mask representing Okina, one of the oldest masks used, representing a gentle divine influence, the mask has a split jaw (kiriago) with cotton thread eyebrows and horse hair beard. Meiji period 1868 – 1912. Maker’s seal on back – possibly Ryu’un or Shuzan. Please see our other auctions for more Noh and Kyogen masks.
