Timo Sarpaneva Finnish Art Glass Orchid Vase 1954 Signed

Timo Sarpaneva (Finland, 1926 – 2006) for Iittala Glassworks, iconic Orkidea Orchid vase designed in 1953, solid blown and polisehd clear glass of an ovoid form with open inset pocket to resemble an orchid. The vase won the prestigious Grand Prix at the 1954 Milan Triennale and was named the Most Beautiful Object of the Year by House Beautiful magazine in 1954.
