An antique platinum ring with an approximate gross weight of 9.28 g, set with a central oval mixed-cut sapphire measuring approximately 14.6 × 12.3 × 8.0 mm [0.57 × 0.48 × 0.31 in] and estimated to weigh 12.08 ct. The sapphire is intense blue with a slight violet hue, has very few visible inclusions, and is of good cut quality. It is presumed to be unheated, subject to confirmation by a gemological laboratory. Note that the sapphire has a chip on the girdle and abrasions to the girdle. The color is consistent with Ceylon (Sri Lankan) sapphires but confirmation would require laboratory testing.

The ring is further set with four natural round brilliant-cut diamonds measuring approximately 1.9 mm [0.07 in] each, with an estimated total weight of 0.11 ct, VS–SI clarity and G–H colour; and six natural baguette-cut diamonds measuring approximately 4.5 × 2.0 mm [0.18 × 0.08 in] each, estimated at 0.15 ct per stone and 0.90 ct total, with VVS clarity and J–K colour. Estimated total diamond weight: 1.01 ct. The ring is a size 9. This item has been examined by a gemologist.
