Description
An Art Deco salt-glazed stoneware pitcher jug by noted Belgian ceramicist Roger Guerin (1896-1954), produced in Bouffioulx, Belgium, circa 1930. The ewer-form body features a rich cobalt blue glossy glaze accented with an incised, hand-carved classical relief scene depicting a traditional dancer and a companion playing a wind instrument. The light-toned slip decoration contrasts with the deep blue ground, framed by geometric, rouletted decorative banding around the upper neck and lower base. Incised with shape or production catalog designation 30-b32 on the underside. Measurements: Width / Diameter: 9.5 in Height: 13 inches.
