Description
Jacques Gabriel Huquier (1730-1805) France – England, Pastel Portrait of a Young Scholar possibly Cambridge or Oxford, signed a dated lower left 1776. Jacques Huquier, an engraver and portrait painter, was born in France but emigrated to England around 1771 after experiencing some financial difficulties and continued his trade as a portrait painter in England until his death in 1805.
Dimensions: 18 inches H x 14.5 W within oval matting, frame measures 26 x 22.5 inches.
