French School, circa 1800, Portrait of a Lady in a White Bonnet
Pastel on paper, oval format, depicting a lady wearing a white lace bonnet adorned with a violet ribbon, a blue Empire-style dress, and a white fichu. Executed during the Directory/Consulate period (c. 1795-1804), the portrait reflects the understated elegance and naturalism that characterized French portraiture following the Revolution. Presented in its original carved and water-gilt oval wooden frame.
