Description

The blade is Edo period, in good polished condition with a visible temper line, and fitted with a silver Habaki. The tang has one pierce and shows appropriate age. It is Mumei, or unsigned. The sword features a museum quality koshirae, a complete, matching set of fittings with an insect motif throughout, dragonflies on the kashira, menuki , and tsuba; dragonflies and a praying mantis on the fuchi. The Kozuka/kogatana is also decorated with insects. The tsuka retains its original sharkskin and leather wrap. The saya is beautifully decorated with finely detailed lacquer work. Blade length is 18 inches with a 13 inches cutting edge. Overall with saya 24 inches. Unsigned, no papers, with silk bag. Stand not included.
