THE SIMON CHANG COLLECTION – Pair of Chinese antique Canton Pien-Mien fans (face covers) finely painted on one side with a Mandarin court scene of many figures in gouache, the faces with applied bone and the clothes of applique silk, on the reverse side in a group of woman in relief with applied faces on a silk background, with a floral painted border with scrolls, the handles are of fine black lacquered wood with gold painted figures, butterfly and flora, Qing Dynasty, Tongzhi period, circa 1870, provenance – purchased in Hong Kong in 1989, mounted in a plexiglass display case (can be removed if one wishes). Dimensions: Lucite box measures 21 inches H x 15.5 W x 2 deep, fan measures 16 inches H x 10 W.
